Reverse Engineering

A Renishaw Cyclone Scanner along with conventional measuring instruments like digital verniers, micrometers, microscopes, gauges etc, is used for the above purpose. In the scanner, an analogue scanning probe is commanded to trace counters, across the entire unknown surface. During this process, the system records information about the surface in the form of numeric data. The data may then be used to create CNC programs to machine a replica or geometric variant of the shape. Alternatively the data can be exported in various formats to a CAD/CAM system for further processing.

Surfacing Class "A"

While Class-A surfacing is in-and-of itself an art form, having the right tools makes a world of difference in the final product. For our surface modeling projects we use ICEMSurf software. ICEMSurf is regarded among automotive companies worldwide as a premier Class-A surfacing tool. What sets ICEM apart from other software is it’s surface analysis tools. Surface sections, curvature sections, curvature plots and highlight plots are just a few of the quality feedback reports available to the modeler. The most powerful feature of ICEM is the fact that all of the plots and reports update in real time as the modeler makes changes to the surfaces.
